Yaro Starak has been my inspiration in setting up Viral Voices - as you can see from the Blog Mastermind link I have on the sidebar.
In recent development, he has launched a new website that contains video tutorial teaching you how to become a blogger. In painstaking details, Yaro will show you how to:
- Why You Should Use WordPress
- How To Get Your Own Domain Name
- How To Get A Web Host
- How To Install WordPress With One Click
- How To Upload Files To Your Webhost Using FTP
- Choosing A WordPress Theme For Your New Blog
- How To Install And Use WordPress Plugins
- How To Create Your First Blog Post And Blog Page
- What RSS Is And Why You Need It
- How To Use Feedburner For Supercharging Your RSS Capabilities
These fabulous content are free, and will remain so. What’s the catch? Yaro is using this educational platform to promote his Blog Mastermind programme.

I can give you several reasons not to use WordPress right away. WP is not the only blogging platform for self-hosted blogs and I suggest bloggers try out the following blog systems before choosing one:
1. TextPattern
2. Nucleus CMS
3. b2evolution
4. Drupal
etc.
There are plenty of choices and each of them have enough features to make blogging fantastic. Let not experienced bloggers lead newbies astray in making out WP as the only choice for self-hosting blogs.
I personally use b2evolution and find its community far friendlier and far more obliging than the WP community.
A great way to browse open source blog and CMS systems is

@ Hari - Personally I have used some of the CMS you have listed at one point or another. After experimenting with them, I still find WP to be my blogging platform of choice. I guess it is up to each one to try and choose, and we’ll all have our own preferences.
And thanks for the link! That was great!
Yes, but we should try and encourage other Open Source projects as well.
At least I’m going to do so.
